Property Product Manager
The Personal Lines Property Product Manager supervises, coordinates, and manages staff while handling all aspects of Product Development, Pricing, Coverage, and Underwriting for all relationships in the territories assigned and will work in conjunction with counterparts to insure the greatest level of consistency possible across all states and lines of business. This position will supervise and provide training to other members of the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises, discusses, and executes property product management strategies as assigned to him/her or staff under supervision.
Manages and supervises property product individual contributors in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company; across states served and lines of business.
Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, recruitment, training of employees, as well as planning, assignment of work, evaluations, discipline and the management of conflict resolution.
Trains new members of the department. Establishes and monitors multi-dimensional portfolio performance metrics.
Analyzes Product/State results and provides recommendations for improvement.
Monitors, analyzes, and provides recommendations to improve competitive position.
Leads, facilitates, and trains department members on the product review process on forms, rates, and guidelines.
Forms product recommendations based on analysis and input from Legal, Sales, IT, Claims, Underwriting, Customer Service, and Actuarial departments.
Leads implementation of new states and lines of business as needed to support corporate goals.
Leads implementation and reviews catastrophe exposure management programs and monitors and manages geographic spread of risk.
Reviews and manages capacity allocations by line, state, and distribution channel.
Provides underwriting analysis of prospective books of business prior to assumption/rollover acceptance.
Leads and facilitates the product and pricing review process and trains department members as needed.
Files changes as required by each state for rates, forms, rules, and guidelines and maintains filing logs and tracking systems.
Responds to Insurance Department inquiries and requests for information on filings.
Communicates Insurance Department objections and questions and gathers input for responses from appropriate internal departments.
Supports and provides product guidance in the process of implementing system enhancements and changes.
Communicates product and pricing changes to appropriate internal departments, as warranted.
Acts as a subject matter expert for personal lines property products and provides training and support for internal departments.
Assists underwriting with establishing internal procedures to ensure consistent and correct application of underwriting guidelines.
Creates, submits, and reviews business requirement documents with developers to ensure accurate implementation of business decisions and trains department members on this process.
Reviews and prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Some travel may be required.
Overtime hours will be necessary and expected at times to meet workload requirements and consistently meet service standards.
Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
10 years of experience in personal lines product development or related field, particularly in catastrophe prone states.
Demonstrated ability to gather market intelligence and clearly communicate findings.
Recent experience in personal property in any or all of the following states FL, TX, SC, AZ, NV, CA, HI, and/or NC preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop new insurance products, make modifications to existing products, and train others on the process and best practices.
Experience writing and implementing underwriting guidelines, processes, and procedures.
Demonstrate technical expertise and product specific knowledge with experience in managing personal or commercial property lines.
Strong interpersonal skills and team skills and ability to interact with all levels of internal and external customers.
Ability to work with a team and to collaborate with others as both a supervisor and an individual contributor.
Must be flexible and able to be adaptable in a changing business environment.
Must possess sound, balanced and timely decision making skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Licenses and / or Certifications:
Completion of CPCU designation or equivalent required
