CorVel in Portland, OR is seeking a Data Engineering Developer. The Data Engineering Developer will work as part of the Data Engineering Team to develop data access solutions used by multiple development teams.

Part of the team is based in Portland, OR and part of the team is remote. This position may work from anywhere in the US.

Team responsibilities include:

  • Understand existing data structures used by business line software applications and assist other teams
  • Participate in the design of new data structures
  • Support the development of EDI, Reporting, and Analytics solutions by developing common database objects or data access technologies
  • Develop and maintain Data Warehouse solutions
  • Manage central documentation repository

Position responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop stored procedures, tables, functions, views, and other SQL Server objects
  • Prepare data change scripts and perform regular maintenance tasks
  • Communicate with business users and other development teams to gather requirements

Other responsibilities, depending upon skill-set, may include:

  • Design and create Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services tabular data models including maintenance plans
  • Maintain c# application that interfaces with SSIS to enhance the ETL processes
  • Solid experience in the following technologies and techniques
    1. T-SQL programming development (e.g. stored procedures, views, triggers, functions)
    2. SQL Server table design
      1. Normalized structures
      2. Data Warehouse design (e.g. star and snowflake schemas)
    3. ETL design and development
    4. T-SQL query performance tuning
  • College degree in computer science, information technology, or similar
    1. Or relevant work experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Bonus points for:

  • Experience conforming data from disparate data sources
  • C# development (non-visual)
  • Azure database and data tools such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps
  • Change Data Capture development, usage, troubleshooting
  • Service Broker development, usage, troubleshooting
  • Developing and managing SQL Server Analysis Services tabular data models
