We are currently seeking an experienced commercial insurance professional to join our Home Office Underwriting Team in Sarasota, FL. The ideal candidate will have a passion for commercial lines underwriting and a desire to share their experience and knowledge to help support and assist our field underwriting teams. Work will include technical projects related to improving underwriting results in all states and lines of business where we do business. The selected candidate will provide underwriting control and oversight as a member of the underwriting quality assurance review team. The Home Office Underwriting Consultant will also be responsible for recommending/implementing underwriting guidelines to support underwriting profitability and consistency as well as developing/delivering training presentations on a variety of underwriting topics to field underwriters. This role will also analyze loss trends, pricing and risk selection actions and recommend underwriting action plans to improve performance.

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Five years multi-line, middle market commercial lines underwriting experience
    • Ten years preferred
  • Subject matter expertise in Construction or Manufacturing industries is a plus
  • Proficiency in evaluating coverage forms, exclusions and endorsements
  • Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • CPCU, CIC or other advanced designation preferred
